Description
Overview
Schluter KERDI is a flexible, sheet-applied waterproofing membrane installed directly behind tile on walls and floors. Fleece on both faces anchors it in thin-set mortar, while its uniform 8-mil thickness avoids the film-thickness variation of a field-applied coating. Select the roll width and area for the surfaces being covered and the seams required.

Applications
Use KERDI in tiled showers, bathtub surrounds, residential steam showers, and other suitable wet areas.
Plan Your Installation
- Measure all waterproofed wall and floor surfaces, then allow for the sheet overlaps and the connections around niches, benches and penetrations.
- Compare the actual roll width and length as well as total area. A wider sheet may suit a large wall, while a smaller roll may fit a compact project.
- Coordinate the membrane with KERDI-BAND, preformed corners and the drain connection before beginning tile work.
- Continuous-use steam rooms require the specified lower-permeance KERDI-DS assembly rather than an assumed substitution with standard KERDI.
Common Planning Questions
Is this the same as KERDI-DS?
No. Standard KERDI is the 8-mil membrane; KERDI-DS is a distinct, thicker membrane with a different vapor-control specification.
Does roll coverage equal finished shower coverage?
Not exactly. Overlaps, cutting and detail work consume material, so use the roll area as a quantity input rather than a promise of finished coverage.
