- Compare the 5/16-inch membrane thickness with the adjoining finished floor before choosing DITRA-XL over standard DITRA.
- Identify the tile type, joist spacing and subfloor construction, then use the corresponding ceramic or stone installation detail.
- Lay out the 175 sq. ft. roll and allow for cutting. Plan the seam and perimeter treatment separately when the assembly must be waterproof.
- Schluter provides ceramic-tile details for joists up to 24 inches on center under specified subfloor conditions. Do not extend that allowance to stone without its own verified assembly detail.
