Description
Overview
Schluter DITRA-HEAT-DUO combines a cable-holding uncoupling membrane with a fleece backing that adds impact-sound control and a thermal break. This 108 sq. ft. roll is particularly useful over concrete, where reducing heat loss into the substrate helps the floor respond faster when heating starts. Heating cables are selected separately to suit the usable floor area.
Features
- Integrated fleece reduces impact-sound transmission through floor-ceiling assemblies.
- Thermal break supports up to 70% faster heat-up over concrete during temperature increases, under the manufacturer's stated test conditions.
- Stud layout holds DITRA-HEAT-E-HK cable without separate clips.

Applications
Use DUO beneath a heated tile or stone floor when sound control or faster response over concrete matters.
Plan Your Installation
- Decide whether the floor needs the DUO sound-control and thermal-break backing, then account for its 5/16-inch height in transitions.
- Use the 108 sq. ft. membrane roll to cover the specified floor area, but size heating cable separately from the usable heated area.
- Coordinate the separately selected cable, thermostat and floor-covering detail before laying out the studded membrane.
- For alternate floor coverings, use the approved encapsulation and temperature-control assembly; the tile detail is not a blanket covering approval.
Common Planning Questions
Does the membrane heat the floor on its own?
No. DITRA-HEAT-E-HK cable supplies the heat; the DUO membrane holds the cable and provides its other assembly functions.
Is this the peel-and-stick version?
No. This DHD810M roll uses bonding fleece. The DUO-PS product uses a different substrate-bonding method.
