Description
Overview
Schluter DITRA-PS brings the uncoupling and load-support functions of DITRA to an adhesive-backed membrane. This 269 sq. ft. roll bonds to an approved prepared substrate without a thin-set layer underneath the mat. The tile above it still requires the appropriate setting mortar.
Features
- Peel-and-stick backing reduces mortar mixing beneath the membrane.
- Easy-cut grooves assist layout and trimming.
- Air-release vents help the membrane bed onto the substrate.
- Provides uncoupling and vapor-management functions in the floor assembly.
What's Included
- One DITRAPS25M peel-and-stick DITRA membrane roll, 269 sq. ft.
Specifications
- Model: DITRAPS25M
- Roll coverage: 269 sq. ft.
- Substrate bond: Pressure-sensitive adhesive
- Suitable substrate examples: Prepared concrete, plywood, and OSB, including Advantech, under the manufacturer's detail
- Tile bond: Specified thin-set mortar above the membrane
Applications
Use beneath tile on a substrate approved for DITRA-PS when an adhesive-backed installation suits the project.
Plan Your Installation
- Confirm that the substrate is approved for DITRA-PS, then follow the PS preparation requirements before exposing the adhesive.
- Plan the roll layout and the floor buildup with no mortar layer beneath the membrane; the tile layer above still needs its specified mortar.
- Include waterproofing connections where required. The pressure-sensitive backing changes the substrate-bonding method, not the need to detail seams and perimeters.
Common Planning Questions
Do I spread thin-set beneath this membrane?
The PS backing bonds to the prepared substrate without that mortar layer. Do not treat it as the fleece-backed standard DITRA installation.
Does peel-and-stick mean the tile is also adhesive-backed?
No. The tile above DITRA-PS is installed with the appropriate setting mortar.
