Overview
Schluter DITRA-HEAT-E-HK 240 V cable provides a flexible floor-warming layout within the DITRA-HEAT membrane. Its snap-in placement lets you heat the usable areas around fixed fixtures. Select the model for the planned coverage and electrical load; a longer cable cannot be trimmed to fit a smaller room.

Plan Your Installation
- Confirm that the electrical design calls for 240 V before choosing a cable from this listing.
- Calculate usable heated area around fixed fixtures and apply the spacing detail for the selected floor covering.
- Compare each model’s length and electrical load with the thermostat or power-module capacity. A different voltage or a larger room does not by itself establish the right model.
- Lay out the cold lead, sensor and heating run before covering the cable; retain the installation and testing instructions throughout the work.
Common Planning Questions
Is a 240 V cable interchangeable with the 120 V version?
Order the voltage required by the circuit and control design; these are separate cable selections.
Can leftover heating cable be shortened?
No. Select the length from the layout before purchase and keep the factory cable intact.
Cable Planning and Installation Limits
- Never cut, shorten, cross, or modify the heating cable. Altering it can cause overheating or failure.
- Do not run heating cable beneath fixed cabinets, islands, vanities, tub platforms, or other permanent fixtures.
- Keep the factory cold-lead/heating-cable splice entirely beneath the floor covering; do not place it in the wall.
- Use the spacing specified for the selected floor assembly. The coverage figures in Specifications use 3-stud spacing, approximately 3-1/2 in. (9 cm); alternate approved layouts change the heated area.
- Maintain the installation clearances: 8 in. from other heat sources, 6 in. from plumbing drains, 3 in. from walls, and 2 in. from fixed cabinets, subject to the applicable handbook detail.
- Plan a permitted buffer area for remaining cable, such as near the doorway or behind a toilet. Never shorten a cable to resolve a layout problem.
