Overview
Protecto Wrap Whisper Mat CS combines sound control and crack isolation beneath thin-set ceramic or natural stone tile. Its self-adhering construction helps reduce transmitted floor noise while separating eligible substrate cracks from the tile assembly; it is not a waterproofing membrane.

Applications
Use under interior thin-set ceramic tile and stone where impact-noise control and crack isolation are required. Sound ratings describe complete tested floor/ceiling assemblies; they are not a guaranteed rating for every room or substrate. Use a separately specified waterproofing system when the project requires one.
Selection and Use
- Use Protecto 6000 or Universal Water Based Primer on the prepared substrate and let it dry before adhering the mat.
- Do not use to bridge expansion joints, structural cracks or vertical movement. Follow the crack preparation and joint details in the linked data sheet.
- Mitigate hydrostatic pressure, persistent vapor, emissions above 4 lb./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours or slab RH above 75% before installation.
- Maintain embedded thin-set thickness at 3/8" or less and avoid solvent-based sealants around the membrane. Consult the linked instructions for substrate and installation limits.
