Overview
Protecto Wrap AFM-WM combines waterproofing and crack isolation in a 40 mil peel-and-stick sheet membrane for interior thin-set tile. Unlike a crack-control-only underlayment, it is designed as part of a detailed waterproof assembly, including appropriate treatment of seams, drains, corners and penetrations.

Applications
Use for interior waterproofing and crack isolation under ceramic, porcelain and dimensional stone, including kitchens, bathrooms, shower-pan liners and walls. Approved substrates include properly prepared concrete, mortar beds, cement backer board, exterior-glue plywood and other materials specifically listed in the data sheet.
Selection and Use
- Prepare a clean, dry, sound substrate and allow leveling or patching compounds to cure before installing the membrane. Prime with the specified Protecto primer and let it dry completely; do not install over wet primer.
- Crack isolation does not eliminate movement joints or correct vertical displacement. Do not bridge cracks or control joints wider than 3/8"; cracks larger than 3/16" require the specified preparation.
- Address hydrostatic pressure, persistent moisture, calcium-chloride emissions above 4 lb./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours or slab RH above 75% before installation.
- Use suitable latex-modified thin-set mortar and keep the embedded mortar thickness at 3/8" or less. If greater build-up is required, level below the membrane first and allow the leveling material to cure.
- Do not expose the membrane to solvent-based sealants. Follow the linked instructions for substrate exclusions, movement joints and all perimeter details.
- Use the specified compatible detail tape, mastic or Protecto LM/fabric method for transitions, drains, seams and corners. Overlapping sheet alone does not complete every waterproofing detail.
- Do not apply over OSB, marine-grade plywood, plank flooring, particle board, Luan, Masonite or laminate. Do not place self-leveling underlayments over the membrane.
- Vertical applications above 8 ft. are not recommended. Follow the complete waterproofing and flood-test instructions before installing the finish.
