Overview
The Protecto Wrap AFM Kit combines a self-adhering anti-fracture membrane with primer and a utility knife for localized crack-suppression work beneath thin-set tile and stone. The fabric-topped membrane and rubberized adhesive help isolate eligible horizontal substrate cracks from the finished covering.

Applications
Use for localized crack isolation beneath interior thin-set tile or stone. Size the treated area to the tile layout—not merely the visible crack: the manufacturer requires the membrane to extend 1-1/2 tile lengths on each side and fully support tile crossing the crack.
Selection and Use
- Prepare a clean, dry, sound substrate and allow leveling or patching compounds to cure before installing the membrane. Prime with the specified Protecto primer and let it dry completely; do not install over wet primer.
- Crack isolation does not eliminate movement joints or correct vertical displacement. Do not bridge cracks or control joints wider than 3/8"; cracks larger than 3/16" require the specified preparation.
- Address hydrostatic pressure, persistent moisture, calcium-chloride emissions above 4 lb./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours or slab RH above 75% before installation.
- Use suitable latex-modified thin-set mortar and keep the embedded mortar thickness at 3/8" or less. If greater build-up is required, level below the membrane first and allow the leveling material to cure.
- Do not expose the membrane to solvent-based sealants. Follow the linked instructions for substrate exclusions, movement joints and all perimeter details.
