Overview

Protecto Wrap Whisper Mat HW is a self-adhering sound-control underlayment for approved wood-floor installations. Cross-linked polyolefin foam and a rubberized adhesive create a thin cushioning and vapor-control layer beneath compatible engineered wood, laminate or parquet systems.

Applications

Use in approved interior residential or commercial engineered-wood, laminate and parquet installations, including compatible radiant-heated assemblies. Confirm the flooring manufacturer’s adhesive and installation requirements; this is not blanket approval for every solid-wood or nail-down floor.

Selection and Use

• Acclimate the flooring and membrane to the jobsite, and follow the flooring manufacturer’s and applicable wood-floor installation requirements.
• Prepare the substrate and apply the specified Protecto primer. Let it dry fully before laying the mat; use only approved wood-floor adhesives.
• Do not install over hydrostatic pressure, persistent vapor, emissions above 4 lb./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours or slab RH above 75% without mitigation.
• Do not use to correct structural or vertical movement or bridge expansion joints. Gypsum leveling materials, solvent-based sealants and wet primer are excluded by the linked instructions.
• Solid-wood and nail-down assemblies require specific preparation and approval; verify the complete assembly before ordering.
