Overview
Protecto Deck is a 70 mil self-adhering waterproofing sheet for exterior deck assemblies beneath tile, stone or pedestal pavers. The fabric-topped roll works with the specified primer and liquid/fabric detailing materials to form a complete waterproofing systemānot an exposed finished walking surface.

Applications
Use as the primary waterproofing layer in properly designed exterior deck assemblies beneath ceramic, porcelain or dimensional stone tile, or approved pedestal paver systems. The deck must drain positively without ponding and meet structural and substrate requirements. Approval applies to specified assemblies, not every possible deck construction.
Selection and Use
- Provide at least 1/4" per foot drainage slope. Use clean, dry approved substrates; concrete requires at least 28 days of cure. Mitigate excessive substrate moisture before work.
- Prime with the specified exterior-compatible Protecto primer and let it dry. Complete laps, penetrations, drains and wall transitions with the required Protecto LM/fabric or other approved detail method.
- The self-adhering sheet itself needs no cure, but liquid details and the completed system do. Follow the linked instructions for at least 24 hours of cure before the required flood test; do not interpret āimmediate tileā as permission to skip detailing or testing.
- Protect the membrane during construction and cover within 30 days. It is not a finished traffic surface and does not correct vertical movement, excessive deflection or missing movement joints.
- Do not use over OSB, marine-grade plywood, particle board, Luan, Masonite, plank flooring or laminate. Keep embedded thin-set at 3/8" or less and avoid solvent sealants or acid cleaners around the system.
