Overview
STRATA_MAT is a lightweight uncoupling underlayment for tile and stone floors. Its vented, mechanically keyed structure permits the appropriate modified or unmodified thin-set to be used while helping the mortar cure. The translucent mat lets the installer check mortar contact during placement.

Applications
Use over suitable concrete, mortar beds, OSB, exterior-glue plywood, cement backer board, terrazzo, resilient flooring, existing tile/stone, gypsum underlayment or lightweight concrete in the specified floor assembly. Exterior applications require the manufacturerās appropriate substrate and assembly details.
Plan Your Installation
- Choose the mortar for the tile and substrate, and check bedding through the translucent mat while placing it.
- Plan finished elevations using the matās 1/8 in. height plus mortar and tileānot the mat height alone.
- Do not cover expansion joints or structural movement cracks. The linked sheet limits large-and-heavy-tile mortar applications above Residential Service; check the required service rating.
- Protect the installed mat from traffic and weather until covered, following the exposure limits in the installation manual.

Does STRATA_MAT waterproof the floor?
No. It is not intended as a waterproofing membrane; provide a separate specified membrane wherever waterproofing is required.
