Overview
STRATA_MAT XT is a thicker uncoupling and vapor-management underlayment for ceramic tile and dimension stone floors. Its added height helps coordinate a tile floor with adjacent hardwood, while hydration vents and the translucent mat help installers manage mortar curing and verify contact.

- Helps isolate in-plane substrate cracks up to 1/8 in. in the specified assembly.
- Accepts the appropriate modified or unmodified thin-set.
- Lightweight roll installs with standard tools.
- Visible chalk lines support layout before tiling.

Applications
Use under tile or stone on suitable horizontal concrete, mortar beds, OSB, interior exterior-glue plywood, cement backer board, cement terrazzo, resilient flooring, expanded polystyrene or specified gypsum/lightweight-concrete assemblies. Its transition function does not mean it is an underlayment for installing hardwood.
Plan Your Installation
- Compare the complete tile-and-mortar buildup with the adjacent floor before selecting XT.
- Do not use in showers, tubs or steam rooms, or as a waterproofing membrane or exposed wear surface.
- Do not bond to particleboard, hardwood, luan or sponge-backed vinyl, or bridge expansion joints/structural cracks.
- Use LATAPOXY 300 where specified for moisture-sensitive stone and white mortar for light-colored stone.
Common Planning Questions
Will it make every tile floor flush with hardwood?
No. Final height depends on the tile, mortar and adjoining floor; verify the complete buildup.
