Overview
LATICRETE 3701 Fortified Mortar Bed is a factory-blended mix of Portland cement, graded aggregates and polymers for thick-bed mortar work. Add water—no separate latex admixture or jobsite blending of dry ingredients is required. It is an approved substitute for 226 Thick Bed Mortar mixed with 3701 Mortar Admix.

Applications
Use for specified thick-bed, scratch-coat, finish-coat and slope-building applications. Listed bases include concrete, existing tile/stone, masonry, mortar beds, cement plaster, cement terrazzo and approved backer-board assemblies; wood-based assemblies require the manufacturer’s specific detail.
Plan Your Installation
- For a feather-edge bonded mortar-bed application, the installation instructions specify a 254 Platinum slurry bond coat; do not apply that detail to an unbonded bed.
- Calculate volume from area and planned thickness. Doubling the thickness approximately halves the listed bag coverage.
- Follow the mortar-bed design and curing requirements before tile work or filling a water feature.

No. This fortified powder is mixed with water; it is distinct from the separate 3701 Mortar Admix product.
