Overview
TechPrime A is a solvent-free acrylic primer and sealer that prepares substrates for an appropriate CustomTech self-leveling underlayment. It controls absorption on porous surfaces and improves the underlayment bond; the dilution depends on the surface being primed.

- For compatible porous and non-porous substrates.
- Use undiluted on non-absorbent surfaces; dilute only as directed for absorbent concrete.
- Available in 1-gallon and 3.5-gallon pails.

- Non-porous coverage: Approximately 400–600 sq. ft. per gallon, undiluted
- Porous coverage: Approximately 600–1,200 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 part primer to 3 parts water
- Application temperature: 50–90°F
- Drying: Typically 1–3 hours to a clear film; conditions and dilution affect timing

Applications
Use before a compatible CustomTech leveling underlayment over prepared concrete, lightweight concrete, ceramic tile, cement terrazzo, exterior-grade plywood, OSB, VCT, approved moisture-control membranes or properly prepared cutback residue. The underlayment’s own substrate requirements still apply.
Selection and Use
- Stir before use. Apply undiluted to non-porous surfaces; highly porous concrete may use up to 3 parts water to 1 part primer and may require a second coat.
- Apply a thin, even coat without puddles. Let it dry to a clear film before pouring the underlayment.
- Use diluted primer within 24 hours. Reprime if more than 72 hours pass after application or dust and contamination affect the primed surface.
- Repair dormant cracks as directed and carry movement joints through the primer and underlayment. Do not bond to hardwood, particleboard, sheet vinyl, metal, fiberglass or plastic.
