Overview
Silk is a fast-curing patching and finishing compound for smoothing interior subfloors before floor covering. The calcium-aluminate formula can be troweled from a featheredge to 1 inch, making it useful for skim coats and localized surface repairs rather than a full self-leveling pour.

Applications
Use Silk to prepare suitable concrete, plywood, OSB and approved existing surfaces before carpet, wood, laminate, resilient flooring, tile or stone. Certain gypsum, terrazzo, adhesive-residue and moisture-control-membrane substrates need special preparation or primer.
Selection and Use
- Prepare only structurally sound, clean surfaces. Patch and finishing compound does not correct a loose or deflecting subfloor.
- Use from featheredge to 1 inch; do not treat deeper figures in an old coverage table as an approved single application.
- Install flooring only after the patch is ready and the flooring manufacturer’s moisture requirements are satisfied. Thickness and site conditions affect the 30–90-minute timing.
- Not for an exposed wear layer, under a moisture-mitigation system, or for continuous-water locations such as showers, pools and fountains. Do not apply below 50°F.
