Description
Overview
MVIS WCI is a single-component, fluid-applied bulk-water-management and crack-isolation layer for the specified masonry veneer system. The self-curing, water-based material forms a seamless elastomeric coating beneath compatible polymer-fortified veneer mortars.
Features
- Helps isolate in-plane movement up to 1/8 in. in the specified assembly.
- Color changes from off-white to white as it cures.
- Microban protects the treated coating.
- Low-VOC, non-flammable formula; exceeds ANSI A118.12.
Specifications
- Package: 5 gallon
- Approximate finished coverage: 250 sq. ft. with two specified coats
- Wet thickness per coat: 15ā22 mils
- Total dry thickness: 20ā30 mils

Applications
Use in the approved MVIS veneer assembly over load-bearing concrete or brick masonry, cement plaster or appropriately specified cement backer board. It manages bulk water behind the finish but does not function as a waterproofing membrane.
Plan Your Installation
- Have the design professional locate the wallās air, vapor, insulation and waterproofing layers correctly.
- Do not bridge structural cracks, vertical movement or horizontal movement greater than 1/8 in.
- Do not use below grade, as a primary roof membrane, or beneath directly applied cement/plaster finishes. OSB is not a veneer substrate.
- Apply at 50ā90°F and cover within the specified exposure period; use a wet-film gauge to verify coating thickness.
Common Planning Questions
Is WCI interchangeable with MVIS Air & Water Barrier?
No. Its listed functions and assembly requirements differ; WCI is not a waterproofing membrane.
