Overview
170 Sound & Crack Isolation Mat is a rubberized acoustical underlayment for suitable interior hard-surface floors. It reduces impact-noise transmission and helps isolate non-moving substrate cracks up to 1/8 in. when installed as the specified full-floor assembly.

Applications
Use beneath the specified thin-bed tile, marble, stone, terrazzo or brick assembly over suitable concrete, mortar beds, interior exterior-glue plywood, backer board, terrazzo or existing tile/stone. Match mat thickness to the tested assembly and the projectās sound requirements.
Plan Your Installation
- Apply across the full substrate for the stated sound/crack function, and follow perimeter-isolation and bonding details.
- Do not compare acoustic numbers without their floor/ceiling assembly and thickness; a mat alone does not guarantee a room-level rating.
- Do not use as waterproofing or bridge expansion joints/structural movement cracks.
- Do not bond directly to OSB, particleboard, luan, Masonite or hardwood; use the specified epoxy for moisture-sensitive finishes.
