Overview
ARDEX X 77 MICROTEC is a microfiber-reinforced, polymer-modified mortar for demanding tile work, including very large and thin porcelain tiles. Extended open time provides more placement time while sag resistance supports vertical installation.
Features
- For porcelain, quarry, ceramic, non-submerged glass and most moisture-insensitive natural stone.
- Extended open time of approximately 60 minutes under reference conditions.
- Water- and frost-resistant; suitable for specified pool, fountain and high-traffic applications.

Applications
Use over properly prepared substrates in approved interior or exterior tile assemblies. Exterior-grade plywood is for interior applications; concrete, masonry, existing tile and other surfaces require the preparation and priming specified for this mortar.
Selection and Use
- Coverage is approximate and depends on the substrate and trowel. Trowel size is not the finished mortar-bed thickness.
- Moisture-sensitive stone requires a different product selection; follow the stone manufacturer and ARDEX recommendations.
- Nonporous surfaces require the specified primer, admixture or scratch-coat procedure. Interior metal applications exclude aluminum and require ARDEX guidance.
- For glass in pools or other submerged areas, and for saltwater pools, the linked usage guide directs installers to a different system; do not apply the general glass/pool claims together.
- For heated floors, follow the specified system preparation and commissioning instructions.
