Overview
SilcaGrate is an engineered-polymer underlayment panel that supports stone, pavers, brick or suitable tile over a framed deck. The hexagonal grid provides a supporting surface above the joists so an elevated deck can receive a hardscape finish instead of wood or composite decking.

Applications
Use as part of a StoneDeks/Silca System assembly for an elevated stone, porcelain-paver, brick or similar hardscape surface on suitable wood or metal framing.
Selection and Use
- Have the supporting frame and complete finished assembly checked for the required loads. The manufacturer’s test of over 500 lb per grate for 30 days is a panel test, not a blanket load rating for an existing deck.
- The listed installation uses #9, 3-inch deck screws at the corners. Match fasteners and support details to the current system instructions and framing.
- Plan the accessory layers and joints: SilcaMat or appropriate geotextile, spacers where required, and the specified joint treatment. Polymeric sand is used in applicable assemblies.
- Allow for the panel, accessory layers and finish thickness when coordinating door thresholds and perimeter edges.
