Overview
HYDRO BAN Board is a lightweight, ready-to-tile substrate with a waterproof extruded-polystyrene core and reinforced waterproof fleece on both faces. It provides a rigid, dimensionally stable backing for bonded tile or stone while remaining easy to carry and cut with a utility knife.

Applications
Use for walls, floors, ceilings, shower/tub surrounds, benches, seats, curbs, shelves, backsplashes and countertops. It can also serve as the specified insulating layer below STRATA_HEAT Mat. Suitable backing includes brick, concrete, masonry and correctly constructed wood or metal framing.
Plan Your Installation
- Select board size and thickness for the actual assembly and support spacing.
- Treat seams, corners and fastener penetrations using the approved detail; waterproof board faces alone do not make the joined assembly watertight.
- Ceilings require HYDRO BAN Tab Washers and Board Screws. Do not carry the wall/floor no-washer exception into overhead work.
- Use the steam-room-specific seam treatment in the linked instructions.
Common Planning Questions
Can I tile immediately after fastening without treating joints?
No. Complete the specified joint and penetration waterproofing before the finish installation.
