Overview
FRACTURE BAN SC is a single-coat, liquid-applied anti-fracture membrane for horizontal tile and stone assemblies. The self-curing rubber polymer forms a thin, flexible layer that helps prevent non-structural, in-plane substrate cracks up to 1/8 in. from transferring into the finish.

Applications
Use on interior or exterior horizontal surfaces in residential, commercial or industrial installations, including terraces and balconies over unoccupied space. Suitable substrates include concrete, masonry, mortar beds, cement plaster and existing ceramic tile or stone.
Plan Your Installation
- Check the crack type and width: the stated protection applies to shrinkage and other non-structural in-plane cracks, not structural movement.
- Exterior-glue plywood and poured gypsum underlayments are interior-only substrates. Follow TCNA methods F200, RH111, RH122 or F180 as applicable to gypsum.
- Skim-coat cement terrazzo with latex thin-set; confirm cement backer-board preparation and exterior approval with its manufacturer.
- Use the required wet thickness across the prepared area. Do not spread a pail farther simply to meet an estimated coverage figure.
Common Planning Questions
Can I use the crack-isolation rating as a waterproofing rating?
No. ANSI A118.12 describes crack-isolation performance. Specify any required waterproofing separately.
