Description
Overview
Schluter KERDI-BOARD is an extruded-polystyrene building panel with fleece faces for bonding tile. It serves as a tile substrate and can be used to build shower walls, tub surrounds, counters, partitions, and other tiled elements. Select the thickness for the support and construction detail; thin overlay panels and thicker building panels serve different purposes.

Use the appropriate thickness over suitable backing, on stud framing, or in a supported built-up tile element as detailed by Schluter.
Plan Your Installation
- Choose panel thickness for the intended assembly, then use the corresponding panel dimensions to calculate quantity; not every thickness has the same sheet size.
- Lay out joints, openings and any planned niche or bench before cutting panels.
- For framed-wall installations, coordinate the specified KERDI-BOARD-ZS screws and ZT washers with panel thickness and framing. Include the required seam and penetration sealing where waterproofing is needed.
- Check the panel-specific support detail before using KERDI-BOARD for a countertop, seat or freestanding partition.
Common Planning Questions
Is the panel face ready to tile?
KERDI-BOARD provides the bonding-fleece surface for the specified tile installation.
Does a waterproof panel eliminate joint treatment?
No. Panel joints, fastener penetrations and adjoining surfaces must be addressed by the applicable waterproofing detail.
