Overview
CustomFloat is a lightweight, preblended Portland-cement bedding and brown-coat mortar for interior and exterior work. Its low-shrinkage formulation is intended for floating floors, walls and countertops, including overhead shapes such as shower areas, arches and coves.

Applications
Choose CustomFloat when building or truing an approved mortar-bed or wall-coat assembly. Concrete, approved RedGard assemblies and certain existing finishes are listed, but they do not all use the same preparation or mixing liquid.
Selection and Use
- Follow the substrate-specific instructions, especially for plywood, existing tile, terrazzo, sheet vinyl or cutback residue. The data sheet calls for Patching Latex Additive in place of water for improved bonding over these difficult surfaces.
- Do not use over lightweight concrete, gypsum underlayment, OSB, particleboard, hardwood, parquet or metal.
- Mix only an amount that can be applied promptly; the sheet directs batches that can be placed in about 10 minutes.
- Let the floated surface cure before setting tile. Temperature and humidity can extend the minimum 24-hour schedule.
