Description
Overview
The Bison B11 Flexible Shim makes small height corrections at the pedestal-to-paver or wood-tile contact point. Its 1/16 in. flexible layer is useful for compensating for slight thickness variations and helping reduce contact noise.
Features
- Thin, flexible thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).
- For fine adjustment, rather than extending a pedestal through a major height change.
- Can be used as a whole shim or in the permitted segments.
Specifications
- Model: B11
- Thickness: 1/16 in. (1.5 mm)
- Material: Thermoplastic elastomer
- Use limit: No more than 2 shims per pedestal under the manufacturer’s instructions
Applications
Use on compatible Bison pedestal tops where adjacent pavers or wood tiles need a small support-height correction. Choose B11 when a flexible contact layer is wanted; the PS1 is the separate, thicker rigid-shim option.
Selection and Use
- First set the pedestal itself to the required height. Use the shim to address the remaining small variation, not to compensate for an unsuitable support layout.
- When a quarter segment is used, adhere it to the pedestal with the specified construction adhesive. Do not let adhesive contact the roofing membrane.
- Check support after placement and keep within the two-shim limit. A shim cannot guarantee that a deck is free from trip hazards or movement.
