Overview
STABILA Type 196 heavy-duty levels use a reinforced aluminum frame and permanently epoxy-locked acrylic vials. Select the working length from 16 to 96 in.; the frame and vial arrangement are designed for direct level and plumb measurements without routine vial adjustment.
Features
- Reinforcing ribs and finger-grip openings.
- Removable, shock-absorbing end caps with slip stoppers for marking near corners.
- Powder coating for cleaning.
- Two measuring surfaces, precision-milled on shorter models and coated from 58 in. upward.

Applications
Use for checking level and plumb across construction elements and for marking with the frame as a straight reference. Choose a shorter model for confined openings or a longer model to bridge a larger area.
Selection and Use
- Match the length and measuring-surface finish to the work.
- Remove the end caps when flush access into a corner is needed.
- Keep the reference face clean and inspect the frame after damage; the accuracy guarantee is not a promise against every form of misuse.
