The Makita XAG16Z is an 18V LXT brushless 4-1/2 in./5 in. cut-off and angle grinder with a variable-speed dial and electric brake. This tool-only listing is suited to users supplying their own compatible Makita battery and charger. Its 3,000–8,500 rpm range and slide switch with lock-on distinguish it from fixed-speed or paddle-switch models.

Applications
For grinding and cutting tile, concrete, pipe and conduit with the appropriate wheel and guard. Match the accessory to the material, task and operating speed; the included grinding wheel and cut-off guard have different roles.
Selection and Use
- Automatic Speed Change adjusts speed and torque under changing load; the manual dial sets the desired speed range.
- Use genuine compatible Makita 18V LXT or Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star Protection symbol. Battery and charger are not included.
- AFT stops the motor if wheel rotation is suddenly forced to stop; this does not replace proper wheel selection and handling.
