Description
Overview
Gillibrand silica sand and feldspar are graded mineral materials supplied in 100 lb bags. Choose the grade required by the mix or process: the #16, #20, #30 and #60 choices are listed as silica sand, while #90 is sold as feldspar.
Features
- Grade-specific data sheets provide sieve distributions for selecting the material.
- Light-tan, sub-angular grains; the linked sheets list typical Mohs hardness of 6.5.

Applications
Select the grade according to the required particle-size distribution for the intended aggregate or industrial process. The linked #16, #20 and #30 sheets specifically identify water-filtration and outdoor-blasting applications; that designation should not be extended automatically to #60 or #90.
Selection and Use
- Use the sheet matching the exact grade. A mesh designation describes a graded distribution, not a promise that every grain is one size.
- Confirm the required grade with the system or mix specification before substitution; #90 feldspar is not presented here as pure silica sand.
- These materials contain crystalline silica. Avoid breathing dust and follow the product’s handling and exposure-control requirements.
- Do not assume suitability for aquariums, play areas or every filtration system from the general word “sand.”
