Description

Pliteq GenieMat RST Sound Control Underlayment

Experience the power of superior engineering with the GenieMat RST Sound Control Underlayment. This innovative product, made from 94% recycled rubber, is designed to significantly reduce sound transmission, making it an ideal choice for multi-family housing, high-rises, or commercial buildings.

The GenieMat RST is a flat, resilient underlayment that can be used directly under hard surface floor finishes and over concrete and wood construction. It's versatility extends to its compatibility with a variety of floor coverings such as tile, stone, wood, and vinyl, and it's approved for use with porcelain tile, vinyl sheet, luxury vinyl plank, ceramic tile, and all types of wood flooring.

Key Features:

  • Mold, bacteria, fungi, and water resistant: Ensures a healthy and safe environment.
  • Exceeds pass criteria for point load test for crack isolation membrane (ANSI 118.12): Guarantees durability and longevity.
  • Meets requirements for VOC emissions (IAQ test, ASTM D5116): Promotes better indoor air quality.
  • Floorscore® certified: Ensures compliance with indoor air quality emission requirements.
  • Qualifies for LEED® points: Contributes to a building's overall sustainability goals.

Concrete Sub-Floor:

Rubber underlayment will always perform best over or under concrete, either full pour or lightweight. Because of the extreme mass and rigidity of the concrete, the rubber is able to compress properly allowing the rubber to add significant resilience to an otherwise rigid structure.

Wood Sub-Floor:

Rubber underlayment will not perform over wood sub-floors as predictably as it will over concrete. There are two great ways to mimic the performance of rubber over concrete in a wood structure. The best way is to fix the structural deflection between the joists. The other way is by layering approximately 7 pounds per square foot of material over the sub-floor or over the GenieMat RST. Layering directly to the sub-floor will help more with low frequency airborne and footfall impact noise transfer while layering over the GenieMat RST will increase the STC rating by at least a couple points with a slight reduction in low frequency performance. Any heavy material will work for layering, e.g. plywood, OSB, MDF, drywall, 3/4" lightweight concrete, or a cementitious board like HardiBacker. Layering several pounds per square foot of material over the GenieMat RST is not required, but recommended in order to maximize the performance of the rubber underlayment in a wood structure.

The GenieMat RST comes in various sizes and hardness levels to cater to different commercial needs. From light commercial to extra heavy commercial applications, there's a GenieMat RST product that fits your requirements.
